About Me

I am an executive tech and business leader with over three decades of experience driving innovation, building products customers care about, and scaling businesses across global markets. I have launched successful new products in AI, Digital Content, Consumer Electronics, Retail, Energy, and Supply Chain. As an 18-year VP at Amazon during its start-up and hyper-growth phase, I built multiple businesses from early stage to millions of customers and billions in revenue. I now advise boards and CEOs, leveraging my years of hands-on experience across business, product, science, tech, and operations.

Career Highlights

My career spans the energy sector, software startups, and 18 years as an Amazon Vice President. The first half of my career was in the energy sector, working on manufacturing automation and supply chain optimization with Shell and AspenTech. I was founder and CEO of PetroVantage, a startup in energy trading analytics which quickly grew to have many of the largest oil companies and energy trading firms as customers. After a successful acquisition, a board member introduced me to an executive at Amazon. My expertise in supply chain led me from ships and pipelines moving oil & gas, to multi-channel enabling Amazon’s supply chain.

I joined Amazon in 2005 when it was in start-up and hyper-growth mode. Over my 18 years, I built three businesses from an early stage to millions of customers and billions in revenue. The first was Seller Services, taking Amazon’s e-commerce tech and operations and turning them into software as a service product that enabled ecommerce for thousands of retailers. Kindle followed, reinventing reading and publishing and growing that into a beloved brand, helping millions read more and enabling more authors to make a living at their craft than ever before. I built Amazon’s Digital Platform and led the international expansion of the devices and content business. AI is the new tech frontier, and building Amazon’s Shopping AI was the challenge I took on in my last role at Amazon. I drove Amazon’s retail growth by inventing the science, engineering, and products to make shopping easier on phones, the web, and Alexa.

I was also a member of Amazon’s Digital Team (“DTeam”), the dozen most senior executive leaders across Amazon’s digital and devices businesses that meet regularly with the CEO (Bezos and then Jassey) to set strategies, priorities, and goals. I had a seat at the table for th

Techquity Solutions

For any business, determining “what” to build for your customers is harder and more important than figuring out “how” to build it. Many companies make the mistake of rushing too quickly into building and end up struggling or failing to deliver results. The most successful products and projects start with first understanding the customer and business problems you are trying to solve. My focus is helping companies work back from their vision to build business and tech strategies that deliver results for their customers and business.

I bring a unique ability to work across tech, product, and business and can contribute at both strategic and hands-on levels, from startup to global scale. I am passionate about developing products and businesses that make meaningful differences in people’s lives and successfully scale.

Why Techquity?

Traditional consulting, where a report gets presented and then put in a drawer and never read again, doesn’t appeal to me. I joined Techquity to collaborate with smart people on interesting and meaningful problems. I seek to work with ambitious clients who are serious about getting things done, make a big impact, and want to make tech a strategic asset to achieve big results. Client challenges that are multi-domain across business, product, and tech and are pivotal to their venture’s future are the most intriguing.

For me, it’s about being the client’s co-pilot on that journey - a thought partner on strategy, helping them build a high-performance team and guiding the execution through to delivering results and scaling.
